OK - so Accies had only 2 genuine U11 players plus 5 U9's and 1 U8 against a much older West of Scotland team - Abernethy [complete with a broken down bus] meant that many of the older boys were unavailable this week.
Fotunately Sandy McCallum and to a lesser extent Hamish Campbell managed to put bat to ball. Having lost six wickets in the first 10 overs the omens did not look good but, in the end, we did not lose any more in the last 10 overs trebling the score in the process. It was never going to be enough but at least it gave the lads a chance.
Thomas Aston's bowling looked the part but when you give away 76 runs in wides and no-balls the writing was on the wall pretty early. West also had more fire power with the bat - everyone scoring and four of them achieving double figure knocks.
Accies U11's seem to work in 2 week cycles - up and down - so Prestwick had better watch out next week!
