Match report

Match reports are the views of the author, and not necessarily those of the club.

The Accies youngsters learned from losing 14 wickets last week and only lost 5 this week with two of these coming in the supposed strongest partnership.  However as the lads found out after taking two early Prestwick wickets in reply the opposing team was better at not losing wickets.  As it happened the final Prestwick pairing did not need to score a single run as long as it did not lose a wicket.  The final two actually scored 7 without loss and Accies had not taken another wicket after the seventh over of the Prestwick innings - shades of Pakistan v Messrs. Trott and Broad??

A loss by only 10 runs was a significant improvement over recent weeks' performances but it's still a loss.  However at this age the results are not the overriding factor - it's the fresh air, the team participation and just being with one's mates isn't it?

It's the end of another season and my thanks must go to all the lads for being so helpful before, during and after the matches and especially to the parents who have been battered with hundreds of emails demanding instant replies to team selections over the duration.  Your cooperation and assistance with transport to away matches has been invaluable! Special thanks must also go to Richard Russell and Martin Oliver for their assistance with umpiring duties over and above the normal call of duty.
