Match report
Match reports are the views of the author, and not necessarily those of the club.
This is the kind of match that has kids and their parents clinging to the edges of their seats urging their respective teams to victory. It also reminds me of the spirit in which the game should be played - hard but with a will to win whilst at the same time with players complimenting opponents on good deliveries, good shots and good catches. Why can't some of their peers follow suit?
At the end of the day our lads came out victorious but at times made it hard for themselves with missed catches and some wayward fielding. Having said that Ali Ferguson took one stunning catch at cover and Rory Kerr took another. Greenock needed 8 from the final over to win, 7 from 5 balls, 5 from 4, 4 from 3 and then 3 from the final ball. They managed only a single for our lads to win by a solitary run.
Rory Kerr's innings of 26 was the highlight of the batting with a late but very useful knock of 14no from Euan Dowers whilst Suhaib Siddiqui's bowling was as good as I have seen at this age group.
More like this please lads...
